Integrations
Notion integration
Use Notion pages as XOROX Rulesets and Specifications, and a Notion task board as a read-only source of Tasks for AI coding agents. Snapshots, live reads and read-only boundaries explained.
Notion stays where your team writes and manages things. XOROX is read-only toward Notion: it never edits your pages or changes a task. You can use Notion pages as XOROX Rulesets and Specifications, and a Notion task board as a source of work for AI coding agents.
The two uses behave differently, so this page is explicit about what is a stored snapshot, what is read live, and what is read-only.
Connecting Notion
A workspace owner or admin connects Notion from Integrations in the dashboard. During the connection you choose which Notion pages to share with XOROX; XOROX can read only what you shared. To share more later, choose Add pages. The connection belongs to the workspace, and each project then picks the pages and board it uses.
Notion pages as Rulesets and Specifications
In a project's Documents tab, create a Ruleset or Specification from a Notion page. The document is then backed by that page:
- Snapshot. XOROX stores the page's content as Markdown when you create the document and each time it's refreshed. Coding agents receive that stored snapshot — XOROX does not read Notion when an agent asks for the Ruleset.
- Manual refresh. Changes in Notion don't appear in XOROX until a workspace owner or admin chooses Refresh on the document. There is no automatic update.
- Read-only in XOROX. While it's backed by Notion, the document can't be edited in XOROX — edit the page in Notion and refresh.
- What's imported. The page's own text and structure. Images and other Notion-hosted files are replaced by a text placeholder, and child pages and databases appear as links; their contents are not imported. Very large pages are not imported; the last good snapshot is kept if a refresh fails.
Disconnect and keep current text on the document detaches it from Notion and keeps the current text as an ordinary editable document.
If the Notion connection itself is disconnected or needs reconnecting, Notion-backed documents keep their last snapshot and agents keep receiving it. Refresh reports that Notion isn't connected until you reconnect.
A Notion task board as a source of work
In a project's Sources tab, you can select one Notion task board. Its rows then appear to agents as work items alongside XOROX Tasks and GitHub work.
- Read live. The board is queried each time an agent lists or fetches tasks, and a task's description is read from its Notion page when the agent opens it. XOROX doesn't copy the board.
- Notion is authoritative for content. Titles and descriptions come from Notion every time.
- Read-only. XOROX never writes to Notion. When an agent marks a Notion task implemented, any summary it supplies is not saved anywhere, and the tool's response says so.
- Execution state stays in XOROX. XOROX tracks
ready, analysing, implementingandimplementedfor each Notion task itself. That is separate from the task's Notion Status, and XOROX does not push it back to Notion.
Status and the Done group
The board needs a Notion Status property (Notion's grouped status type — a plain select property isn't supported). When you choose the board, you also confirm which Status group means a task is done; for Notion's default Tasks template, its Complete group is pre-selected. Check this before relying on it:
- Tasks in the done group are hidden from agents, unless XOROX is already tracking them.
- A task Notion already considers done is never offered as the next task and can't be started.
What this does not do
- It does not edit Notion pages or board rows, or change a task's Notion Status.
- It is not two-way synchronization. Notion changes reach agents by refresh (documents) or on the next read (tasks).
- It does not import child pages or database contents, or Notion-hosted images and files.
Disconnecting
Disconnect in Integrations removes XOROX's stored Notion access. Nothing in Notion changes. Documents created from Notion pages keep their last snapshot but can't be refreshed until you reconnect, and task boards can't be read. To revoke access completely, also remove XOROX under Settings → Connections in Notion.
