MCP tools
Every MCP tool the XOROX agent integration exposes, with arguments and return shape.
In Cursor, Rulesets are delivered automatically by a hook — see Rulesets. In Claude Code, Rulesets are retrieved through the xorox_get_rulesets tool below instead, triggered automatically by a short startup instruction rather than requiring a manual tool call — see Claude Code. Specifications and Tasks are reached through MCP tools for both agents.
Rulesets
xorox_get_rulesets
Returns all active Rulesets for the current project, including their full content — authoritative engineering instructions for how the software should be built.
| Arguments | Returns |
|---|---|
| None | A list of { id, name, content } |
Used by Claude Code before implementation work, every session. Not used by Cursor, which receives Ruleset content automatically instead.
Specifications
xorox_list_specifications
Lists the project's active Specifications as a lightweight index — no content.
| Arguments | Returns |
|---|---|
| None | A list of { id, name, description } |
Used when the agent wants to see what Specifications exist before deciding which one is relevant.
xorox_get_specification
Fetches the full content of one Specification.
| Arguments | Returns |
|---|---|
documentId (required) | { id, name, description, content } |
Used right before implementing something, once the agent has identified the relevant Specification.
Tasks
xorox_list_tasks
Lists Tasks, optionally filtered by status.
| Arguments | Returns |
|---|---|
status (optional) — one of ready, analysing, implementing, implemented | A list of Tasks, each with its linked Specifications |
xorox_get_task
Fetches one Task.
| Arguments | Returns |
|---|---|
taskId (required) | The Task, with its linked Specifications |
xorox_get_next_task
Returns the next Task in the ready queue, or none if the queue is empty. Read-only — it doesn't start the Task.
| Arguments | Returns |
|---|---|
| None | A Task, or null |
Used when an agent asks something like "what should I work on next?"
xorox_start_task
Moves a Task from ready to analysing, claiming it if it's unassigned.
| Arguments | Returns |
|---|---|
taskId (required) | The updated Task |
xorox_set_task_status
Moves a Task from analysing to implementing.
| Arguments | Returns |
|---|---|
taskId (required), status (required) — analysing or implementing | The updated Task |
xorox_mark_task_implemented
Moves a Task from implementing to implemented — its final state.
| Arguments | Returns |
|---|---|
taskId (required) | The updated Task |
Used once the agent has finished and verified the implementation.
